Q. On program startup I get prompted to connect to the database?

A. When you open Appointments Book® Pro and get prompted to connect to the database that means either 3 things:


a) During install you chose NOT to install the database.

Solution A:

In the prompt to connect to the database specify the details of the PC hosting the database. This is how Appointments Book® Pro can be networked so multiple PCs use a single database.

If you installed without the Database option ticked you will need to trial the program on another PC.


b) You installed as administrator and changed PC user?

Solution B:
Switch User, back to the PC Administrators user account. Open Appointments Book® Pro (notice you are NOT prompted to connect to the database). Goto the Maintenance tab and click on the Permissions button. You will see a window appear allowing you to create new Appointments Book® accounts.

Create an Appointments Book® user account with the same username as the Windows Account User you wish to grant access. This is howAppointments Book® Pro supports multiple PC Profiles on a single PC.

Please create Appointments Book® accounts for the other user profiles on the PC that you wish to access the program.


c) As per the download page instructions. SQL Server didn't install properly because your anti-virus (McAfee, ZoneAlarm, Symantec) software blocked it from being installed.

Solution C:
You will need to Demo on another PC as uninstalling counts as 30 trial uses.


Q. Why do I get a black box in Mapping, Streetview and Directions?

A. Download Adobe Flash 9 or above http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer

Q. What's the difference between the reports By Customer Birth Date and By DOB?

A. Customers have birthdats each year. The Customer Birthday Report selects customers with birthdays (any year) that fall in the From/To date range.

A. The Customer Report by DOB selects customers date of births in the From/To Date range.

Q. How can I enter the connection string to the database (SQL Server)?

1. Open Appointments Book® Pro click Extra's menu > Network button > click "Connect to database" > In the datalink dialog chose Microsoft OLE DB for SQL Server in the Provider tabstrip and click Next

2. In the Connection tabstrip type the name of the computer hosting the database eg.

PCHostingDatbaseName followed by "\AB_SQ" enter for example:

PCHostingDatbaseName\AB_SQL

3. Choose "Windows NT Integrated Security."

4. Select the database on the server ie choose AppointmentsBookPro from the drop down menu.

NOTE: If your a Database Administrator modify the dbpath.txt file in the Appointments Book® Pro folder (usually C:\Program Files\Appointments Book Pro\dbpath.txt)


Q. I'm having trouble installing Appointments Book® Standard

A. Please close all programs before installing. During installation if you are prompted a component is already in use, please choose to ignore the exception. During installation if windows prompts you that a file being copied over is older than the one you have on your system, do you wish to keep the file you have on your system ? Please choose to keep the file that is already on your system.

Q. How do I remove Adware and Spyware from my PC?

Q. Why doesn't the Marketing template populate the Appointment date and time?

A. 'All Customers Between' is the only option that can support Appointment Time & Date keywords in letter templates.

A. Since Appointments Book® is offering non-tangible irrevocable goods we do not issue refunds after the product is downloaded. Q. How to get an invoice?

Q. What is CVV (Card Verification Value) code?

CVV stands for Credit Card Validation (or Verification) Value. The CVV is a 3 or 4 digit code embossed or imprinted on the reverse side of Visa, MasterCard and Discover cards and on the front of American Express cards. This is an extra security measure to ensure that you have access or physical possession of the credit card itself in order to use the CVV code. For details on where to find your CVV code, please check below.

VISA, MasterCard, Discover - It is the last 3 digits after the credit card number on the back of the card in the signature area.

American Express - The code is printed on the front of the card, above and to the right of the embossed card number.

Q. Is your site secure enough to pay via Credit Card?

Q. How big is the Appointments Book® file? I don't have a broad band connection to the internet and it takes me almost 1 hour to download even a 10 Mb file. Usually a download accelerator or a download resuming program can solve the disconnection problem. Is it possible to use such a program for downloading Appointments Book® ?

A. Appointments Book® is approx. 20mb because of the size of the source files. We recommend using Flash Get ( www.flashget.com ) Download Accelerator Plus ( www.speedbit.com ) or GetRight (www.getright.com) for downloading on dialup and slower connections.
