Peer 2 peer networking

 


Often referred to simply as Peer 2 Peer, or abbreviated P2P, a type of network in which each workstation has equivalent capabilities and responsibilities. This differs from Client / Server architectures , in which some computers are dedicated to serving the others. Peer 2 Peer networks are generally simpler, but they usually do not offer the same performance under heavy loads.

Appointments Book® Standard

There are a several ways to network the Appointments Book®® program in a Peer 2 Peer type of Network Environment. You can choose to either Map a Network Drive or Share the Appointments Book® folder. Mapping a Network Drive will require only one install of Appointments Book® where as Sharing the Appointments Book® folder requires you to install a copy of the Appointments program on each PC that will require access to the program. The Appointments Book® licensing model is Per PC that requires access to the program not per install so whether you Map a Network Drive or Share the Appointments Book® folder it will not make a difference in price only in the performance of the program across your Network.

A network drive is a file folder located on a remote computer that has been configured for sharing over a LAN. These instructions explain the process to map a shared network drive using Windows Explorer.
