If this is the first time you are networking your PC's it is recommended you click here for a guide to networking. When your network is setup and you are ready follow the steps below to test your networks connectivity. If your network is already setup and transmitting data successfully click here to continue to the next step.
1. The first step to testing your network is to select which PC you would like to act as the Server PC for the Appointments Book® Data.
2. When you have selected the PC that will be acting as the Server PC it is recommended that you find the IP ADDRESS of that PC (Server) and the IP ADDRESS's of all the other PC's (Client's) in the network.
3. When you have found the IP ADDRESS's of all the PC's in the network the next step is to ping the Server PC from all the Client PC's and to then ping each of the Client PC's from the Server PC.
4. When you have successfully ping'ed all the Client PC's in your network from the Server PC and you have successfully ping'ed the Server PC from all the Client PC's in your network is to install Appointments Book® and distribute it across your network. Click Here to proceed.
The ipconfig / winipcfg and ping commands enable you to find the IP ADDRESS of your PC, allowing you to send the ping command from that PC and other PC's in your network to test whether they are connected and transmitting data successfully. The ping command can also be particularly useful when troubleshooting a network.
An IP ADDRESS is the logical address of a network adapter. The IP address uniquely identifies computers on a network. An IP address can be private, for use on a LAN, or public, for use on the Internet or other WAN. IP addresses can be determined statically (assigned to a computer by a system administrator) or dynamically (assigned by another device on the network on demand).
